In celebration of today being the Average Last Frost Date for Little Compton let’s talk about vegetables! Another charming Plant Fair regular is Andrea Toscano from upstate NY with her unusual and very hearty veg and flower collection. This year Andrea is bringing Wapsipinicon Peach Tomato, a super sweet tomato with a little peach fuzz, an early spring favorite Pink Celtuce, a lettuce that grows a thick stalk that is then peeled and sauteed, a rare selection of Cosmos sulphureus in Blush, Pink South African Foxglove, and even more specialty cut flowers and unusual veggies! Skinny Dip Farm is our favorite local source for tried and true organic veg starts from varieties that are known for their solid performance in our climate. They also have other pollinator plants for your borders and companion planting. We love seeing Hannah and Ben and their family at Plant Fair! You will recognize Nicole Wordell’s herb trailer from past Plant Fairs- she is a second generation herb grower and a solid presence with her herbs for sale all spring and summer at the bottom of Adamsville Hill. Let’s welcome them all back! The 5th Annual Sakonnet Plant Fair at 3 Meetinghouse Lane in Little Compton RI on May 2nd. 9AM-2PM. Plants, Authors, Food, Music and more.
