Sneak Peek: Hillside Nursery

Today’s vendor spotlight is Hillside Nursery from Ashfield, MA and we will let them speak for themselves: We are a woman-owned nursery that specializes in woodland wildflowers and lady slipper orchids. We have a good selection of native plants and exotic shade plants from Europe and Asia.
Picture 1: Anemonella thalictroides ‘Schoaff’s Double’ – We will be bringing our full selection of Anemonellas, we have single flowers, we have double flowers, we have pink, white, dark pink and green! It’s an Anemonella bonanza at Sakonnet when these beauties are in their prime!
Picture 2: Anemonopsis macrophylla – One of my all time favorite plants we grow at the nursery. A late summer gem that brightens up the woodland garden with shy pink flowers that dance above the dark green foliage.
Picture 3: Arisaema fargesii – We will have a few different kinds of Arisaema as well. Fargessi has very tropical looking foliage, emerges in June and will last through the first frost.
Picture 4: Hepatica transylvanica – though they may be done blooming by May (they’re blooming now in the greenhouse!), they are still great additions to the woodland garden. You may get a bonus bloom in November!
Picture 5: Syneilesis palmatum – This Shredded umbrella plant is a fun addition to any shade garden. It can get about 18-24 inches tall and is grown mostly for the foliage, but it does have wispy flowers on the end of tall stalks in summer.
Picture 6: Trollius laxus – a Beautiful native, low growing, spring bloomer.
Oh, almost forgot: We will have a lot of Cypripediums. Ladyslippers of many different varieties. Sounds too good to miss! Sakonnet Plant Fair, May 2nd, 9AM-2PM in Little Compton, RI.
